MIAMI, FL – Reflecting its mission to provide leadership on community solutions, and foster philanthropy that connects people who care with causes that matter, the Community Foundation of Broward recently bestowed a $10,000 grant for youth development programs to Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. The funds will allow Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade to continue to provide quality educational after-school programs, including homework assistance, literacy classes, computer skills training, arts & crafts, social skills, and sports and fitness programs.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s after-school programs keep children occupied as long as possible in a healthy, safe, productive, and enjoyable environment. Over 60 percent of youth crime is committed between the hours of 2–6 p.m. With its programs, the organization helps decrease the number of children in the streets in the after-school hours, as well as during the weekends.
The funds will be distributed among Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s five clubs: the Kendall Club, Northwest Club, Gwen Cherry Club, Hank Kline Club and South Beach Club.
"We are very thankful to the Community Foundation of Broward for this generous grant,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade President Alex Rodriguez-Roig. “The funds will allows us to continue providing quality after-school programs to the many children attending our five clubs, providing them with a safe and productive environment.”
