FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The 16th Annual ("Sweet Sixteen") Ladies Invitational PAWS on the Green Golf Tournament, presented by AutoNation, was held at Grande Oaks Golf Club on November 3 and 4. The event is organized each year by PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving), the auxiliary group for the Humane Society of Broward County. Chairs Pamela Baynes, Barbara Castell and Lisa Kitei, along with Honorary Chairs Marti Huizenga and Ursula Scott, are delighted to announce that over $160,000 was raised for the shelter's programs and services.

Players started the festivities with a pre-tournament cocktail party generously hosted by Marti and Wayne Huizenga. Those guests staying at the Riverside Hotel enjoyed a nautical ride on the Water Taxi to the Huizenga's waterfront Fort Lauderdale home, where they joined up with other tournament participants for a fun-filled evening of delicious food, drinks and music. Guests also brought "birthday gifts" for the animals at the Humane Society to celebrate the tournament's memorable year.
The two-day event included golf, live and silent auctions, fabulous player gifts and hole-in-one contests with the chance to win a two-year lease of a luxury vehicle provided by AutoNation, as well as a Monday night cocktail party and an awards luncheon that wrapped up the tournament on Tuesday. Mobile adoptions were a popular attraction both days, and several puppies and kittens found new forever homes!
During the cocktail party Dr. Harry Moon donated his time as auctioneer for the live auction, which featured exclusive trips, private dinner parties, golf packages and many more fabulous items. The Thunderhead Band provided entertainment that evening. One of the highlights of the party was a prize drawing for a beautiful sterling silver bracelet with Kashi pearls and sterling silver golf balls, generously provided by Pamela Huizenga Jewelry. The lucky winner was a very happy Monica Correll.
The overall gross winners of PAWS on the Green this year were Pat Case, Karen Hale, Diane Lang and Ann Fulginiti. The overall net winners were Susan Lincoln, Jo Ann Feindt, Diane LeVecchia and Marilyn Paul.
