PEMBROKE PARK, FL – South Florida Business Journal announced today that Feeding South Florida™ President & CEO Paco Vélez is a recipient of the publication’s 2015 Ultimate CEO Award – Broward County. Vélez will be honored at South Florida Business Journal’s 2015 Ultimate CEO Awards program on Thursday, Sept. 17, 5:30–8:30 p.m. at the Marriott Harbor Beach Fort Lauderdale Resort & Spa.
Throughout the year, South Florida Business Journal honors the top CEOs by region. At the Sept. 17 event, South Florida Business Journal will bring them all together to recognize the major roles they have played in their county's success. Each of the honorees has been a leader within their organization, throughout the business community and through their countless hours donated to the communities in which they live and work.
Vélez leads Feeding South Florida to help set the table for the 785,040 residents of South Florida who are food insecure. This includes 280,630 children and 150,000 older adults throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Under his direction, Feeding South Florida staff is working to encourage public support to end hunger, a major issue in South Florida.
Having joined Feeding South Florida in 2012 with extensive experience in food banking, Vélez is infusing the traditional nonprofit compassion/culture with innovation, best practices, and fresh energy, creating a flurry of action … and results. An example of this is his leadership during Hunger Action Month (September), when Feeding South Florida is presenting a variety of events and activities to encourage South Floridians to help end hunger and spread the word about the pervasiveness of hunger in South Florida.
