“During the warmer months, loggerhead sea turtles return to the sandy beaches of Naples to lay their nests, which contain an average of 100 ping pong ball-sized eggs,” explained LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort’s Managing Director Marco Perry. “Since the beaches in Southwest Florida are crucial nesting areas for this endangered species, LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort invites guests to join in the special cause and support the measures we’re taking to help save one of Florida’s most beloved reptiles from extinction.”
The two-night Sea Turtle Suite package features luxurious accommodations, dining at the resort’s BALEEN restaurant, the opportunity to adopt a sea turtle, as well as a visit to the Conservancy Nature Center. LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort will also help guests track sea turtle activity on property with alerts about sightings, as well as donate a portion of every Sea Turtle Suite package booked to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. To kick-off the enchanting two-night experience, LaPlaya greets travelers upon check-in with a Sea Turtle Suite welcome kit, complete with a beach bag and large stuffed sea turtle toy. After a day of relaxing on the resort’s white sandy beach, a “chef-tested, sea turtle-approved” menu awaits at the resort’s signature beachfront restaurant, BALEEN.
Guests will find themselves connecting with the local environment through participation in the Sea Turtle Adoption Program, including a personalized adoption certificate that recognizes those who help support the ongoing care and treatment of sick and injured sea turtles. Throughout their stay, guests will receive “turtle tweets,” alerting them about on-property sea turtle sightings and upcoming releases.
Additionally, with LaPlaya’s Sea Turtle Suite, guests can visit the Conservancy of Southwest Florida and experience the natural treasures in the region. From touching dozens of creatures in the Touch Tank and viewing a loggerhead sea turtle as it swims freely in a 5,000-gallon reef tank, to participating in a guided trail walk and visiting more than a hundred exhibits, guests will learn about the importance of the center’s resources and understand the role the Conservancy of Southwest Florida plays in protecting the region.
