FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. -- The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is proud to host a free presentation geared towards at-risk youth, held on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012, at 6:00 P.M. The presentation will be inside the Carter Park gymnasium, located at 1448 West Sunrise Boulevard in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The focus of this presentation is to educate youth on the consequences of their actions and provide them an opportunity to hear from residents in their neighborhoods who have experienced similar situations and pressures.

Our guest speakers are volunteering their time to reach out to the youth in our neighborhoods; sharing their first-hand experience with abusing drugs, committing crimes, joining a gang or going to prison. The true stories shared at this event will depict to the audience, how not only their lives were changed, but the lives of their loved ones.

The goal of this event is to inform at-risk youth of the dangers associated with a life of crime and help deter them from continuing down a path that will only lead to prison. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department prides itself on creating a safer community for everyone and understands the importance of educating our youth.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is strongly encouraging all parents and guardians to attend with their children.

Anyone interested in attending this event should contact Detective Rafael Bouyett at 954-828-5639
