The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Performance Project School of the Arts are hosting auditions for the Young Professionals level of its 2012 Summer Theatre Camp on Saturday, March 24 at the Broward Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enrollment is by audition only for the advanced level touring program for campers between the ages of 13 and 18, or entering eighth grade, to be held weekdays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. from June 18 to July 28.
Audition requirements are 16 to 20 measures of a show tune with accompaniment on CD (no vocals on the track), a reading from the script, a head-shot or picture, a resume and a letter of recommendation from a drama or music teacher. Teens will be notified about casting by April 7th. They should not attempt to register until they are notified of your acceptance. If not accepted, they are welcome to sign up for the Group C teen program (subject to availability).
Young Professionals will perform Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the Broward Center, Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark and Aventura Arts & Cultural Center after participating in advanced levels of study in voice and diction, character analysis, scene study, dialects, styles and methods. They will also have the opportunity to earn community service hours by assisting younger campers. The price for the camp is $680, which includes a voucher for two complimentary tickets to any single performance the camper is in, and a DVD of the show in which the camper appears.
