Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert W. Runcie praises The White House’s authorization today of Florida No Child Left Behind (NCLB) waiver.
“This is an announcement we have hoped would come. This gives us a greater opportunity to focus on continuing to develop high quality teaching and learning – our core mission. The waiver provides more flexibility for school districts with an accountability system that measures academic achievement and growth for all students. We will take advantage of this moment to be as innovative as possible in transforming our system to give all students the greatest opportunity for success. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Florida Commissioner of Education Gerard Robinson are to be commended for taking action. Our students and teachers need and deserve this boost.”
