POMPANO BEACH, FL – The 2nd Annual PermaPlate Charity Poker Tournament grossed more than $36,000 to benefit Women In Distress and the Sun Sentinel Children's Fund. The funds raised, will be able to provide 191 nights of emergency shelter to an adult or child fleeing from an abusive situation and help support the needs of low income children and families.

The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park welcomed nearly 100 community poker players, on Sunday, Jan 6th to help raise funds for two local charities. With a $200 buy-in donation per player, those in attendance were able to enjoy a day of poker with a special champagne brunch prior to the tournament at the Farmer's Pick Buffet.
The tournament began at 12 noon and ended late Sunday night, with players competing for the grand prize of $7,000 cash. Other top prizes included a 5 day/4 night endless luxury all inclusive stay at the Hacienda Tres Rios in Riviera Maya, Mexico with $300 airfare credit and a 4 day/3 night vacation to Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas for two, courtesy of Kerzner International with $300 airfare credit.
