HOLLYWOOD, FL – Tatiana Saldarriaga, whose 4-year old son, Yael, attends the Unity4Kids Learning Center at Hispanic Unity, is thrilled that her family can put away the artificial Christmas tree and enjoy a live one thisyear. All 20 Learning Center families received free fresh Christmas trees donated by Flamingo Road Nursery at their recent holiday party.

"I love natural trees and thought it was amazing that we were receiving such a nice gift," said Saldarriaga, who lets her three children decorate the tree with their own creations and more traditional decorations.
Anna Mayorquin was just as thrilled when she found out about the tree gift. "I couldn't believe it," she said. "Usually we have to wait until the last minute to find a tree on sale. This year we'll have more time to enjoy it."
Jim Dezell, the owner of the 10-acre garden center in Davie, said he offered to donate the trees when he discovered that these low income families are working hard to offer their children a quality education and become productive contributing new citizens of the United States.

"In this season of giving, I'm honored to be able to offer these families a little holiday cheer," he said. He also donated a tree and poinsettia plants for the Center as well. The students made reindeer ornaments out prints of their hands and feet and stars with sparkles for their tree at school.
