FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (February 1, 2012) – As part of its ongoing mission to forge lasting relationships between the arts community and local businesses, The Cultural Foundation of Broward (CFB) held its second “Art in the Workplace” workshop at BGT Partners in Hallandale, FL on Friday, January 13th.  Over 70 BGT Partners employees, including BGT Partners’ CEO, Managing Partner and Co-founder, David Clarke, participated in the extraordinary workshop featuring legendary drummer Willie Stewart, a former member of the world renowned reggae group, Third World.

During the innovative, lunch-hour “Art in the Workplace” event, Stewart, who had the room pre-set up with over 70 Caribbean drums of varying styles and sizes, taught the BGT Partners employees how to play along to his beat.  As the team-building, musical workshop progressed, BGT Partners employees were soon performing enchanting musical numbers which ultimately culminated into an exuberant, high-energy company-wide conga line throughout the room.

“At BGT we work hard and have fun doing it, and that’s why we were excited to invite Willie in for a drumming jam session,” said David Clarke, CEO, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of BGT Partners, a 2010 and 2011 Ad Age Best Place to Work. “The Cultural Foundation of Broward is doing a tremendous job of bringing art into the workplace, and we love the energizing and positive spirit of the program.” For photos of Willie Stewart at BGT, please visit: http://on.fb.me/xhKq1q.

The “Art in the Workplace” program, which was launched with its inaugural event on December 12, 2011 at the BankAtlantic Corporate Headquarters, was designed to forge lasting relationships between the arts community and local businesses, while providing arts awareness, involvement and enrichment to employees at work. The program was created by the Cultural Foundation of Broward to positively impact employees by bringing the various disciplines of the arts directly into the workplace.  Local businesses can bring art to the workplace by inviting an artist or musician to conduct a workshop for the employees or invite a local artist to display or perform his or her work for the employees to enjoy. Usually the workshop is held during lunchtime and is voluntary for the employees to participate.  Employees will have the opportunity to engage hands on with creating their own art. The artist teaches an art or music workshop that could range from painting, sculpting, singing or even jewelry making.

The Cultural Foundation of Broward (CFB) is currently reaching out to local businesses and artists in Broward County to encourage participation in the program. CFB will foster the relationships and help provide support for both the private sector and the local arts and will
provide local organizations the needed resources to further advance the partnerships with the arts.  To learn more about how your company can participate, please contact Lois Marino at 954-940-6373.
