The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project team for the 17th Street Causeway Roadway Improvements Project will host a Construction Open House for the community on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.at the Renaissance Hotel, located at 1617 SE 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The meeting will follow an open house format, meaning that residents, business and stakeholders with an interest in the project may attend at any time during the two-hour period. The Renaissance Hotel will validate open house attendees parking if they choose to park in the hotel garage.

The Construction Open House will provide residents, businesses and neighborhoods with an opportunity to meet the project team and learn about upcoming construction. Work along the 17th Street Causeway Bridge is scheduled to begin in February 2012 and is expected to be complete in fall 2012. As work progresses, the project team will notify the community and the City of Fort Lauderdale of the construction schedule.

The project team is aware of the Fort Lauderdale Air Show, which is scheduled to take place on April 28 - 29, 2012. Due to the event's impact, the project team will not perform construction along the causeway during the weekend of this special event. For more information, please contact:
